The NPKUA’s inaugural national conference, High Hopes, was held in January 2010.
The conference honored Dr. Charles Scriver and Dr. Richard Koch as the first PKU Heroes and the NPKUA announced its first research awards totaling $190,000 during the sold out event.
The conference was attended by more than 330 people from 38 states and four countries and brought together individuals with PKU, their families, clinicians and researchers.
Presentations and sessions focused on current PKU treatments and management techniques, as well as promising research that may lead to a cure for this challenging genetic disorder.
